Ice Breaker # 2 - 2008!!! Starts - May 6th - 6-9pm @ SHS Band Room. All New Members and Returning Members attend. Find out what the Seminole HS Band Program is all about! Bring your horn, mouthpiece, sticks,sneakers,etc. Come meet/greet new and returning members, staff members, booster board members. The remaining Ice Breaker is May 13th. Bring your music from the first rehearsal. An AWESOME turn out the first Ice Breaker! Please join us for the fun, music, friendship and learning! Bring some one new for band or color guard. JAZZ BANDS rehearse normal times and days this week.

CONGRATS to the Wind Ensemble for placing First Place, Winning the Adjudicators Award, and winning the highest score for an instrumental ensemble at the Heritage Music Festivals Competition in Colorado Springs, Colorado this weekend. The ensemble and students persevered through major illnesses and altitude adjustments and still wound up on top! Congrats to Josh B. for winning the soloist award too. All the students had a great time visiting Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, The Manitou Cliff Dwellings, the Air Force Academy, The Royal Gorge Bridge, and other local sites. Also, thanks to band members and parent boosters that volunteered for Tag Day this weekend as well.

Congratulations to the Scholastic World Guard for making FINALS at the WGI World Championship in Daytion, Ohio. They are one of the top 15 winter guards in the U.S.!! Amazing! Congrats to the Scholastic A Guard for making and performing in Semi-Finals at the WGI World Championships. A huge accomplishment! CONGRATS to the SHS Jazz Ensemble #1 for receiving the school's first ever STRAIGHT SUPERIOR rating at the FBA State Jazz Band Festival held in Ocala, FL. Also a big congrats to the Mallet Ensemble, Brass Choir, Flute Choir and soloists for receiving Superior with Distinction, Superior and Excellent ratings. A huge week of accomplishments for the entire SHS Band Program!

Congrats to the Seminole High School Winter Guards for both groups making FINALS and the Scholastic A Guard placing 7th at Finals and the Scholastic World Guard placing 5th at the Finals. A positive and huge accomplishment for one program to have two finalist guards at a very competitive Southern WGI Power Regional! Great performances from both groups!

Congratulations to the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble for both recieving STRAIGHT SUPERIOR RATINGS at the FBA- MPA District IX Concert Festival on March 7th held at Pinellas Park High School! Congratulations to the Scholastic A Guard for making finals and placing 7th in prelims and 9th overall in Finals at the WGI Regional in Orlando. Congratulations to the Scholastic World Guard for placing Third in both prelims and finals at the WGI Orlando Regional. Amazing performances from both winter guards!

Congrats to Charlie F., Hollyn S., and Devon B. for making STUDENT OF THE MONTH for the entire school! The Seminole Band Program continues the streak for every month a band student is awarded! Congrats and an amazing accomplishment! Congrats to Russell G., for being a FINALIST in the PRESIDENT'S OWN - Marine Band Concerto Competition held @ John Philip Sousa Hall at the Marine Barracks in Washington DC on Feb. 16th. Russell was one of seven students nation wide to make it to the finals! An awesome accomplishment!

The Winter Guards will be traveling to Dayton, Ohio for the WGI World Championships on April 10th and the Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band will be performing in the Heritage Music Festival in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 17th. Please help support these fundraising efforts towards this trips. Please make sure you are keeping up with fundraising efforts with the band boosters and with your fair share, travel and instrument rental fees and payments. There are fundraising events for everyone every month. Everyone help out!!!
